People will always learn more from those who disagree with them from those who share their views." Create a blog entry entitled "Opposition" and respond to the following prompt
Do you agree with this observation? Have you profited more from experiences with people whose views were similiar to yours or from experiences with people whose view opoposed your own? Include one or two specific examples to support your position

I do not agree with this and i have several defintions of why i do not agree with this:

1. hostile attitude or action: a disapproving attitude toward something and a wish to prevent it, or action taken to show disapproval of and prevent somethingPublic opposition to the plan was growing.
2. sports opponent: the person or team that you or another player or team have to play againstHe can expect stronger opposition in the semifinal.
3. politics political groups opposing government: a political party, or political parties or groups, opposed to the government in power in a country ( often used before nouns )
4. politics principal party opposing government: in a British-style parliamentary system, the political party with the largest number of seats of those not in office, officially recognized as the government's main opponent ( often used before nouns )
5. linguistics linguistic contrast: in linguistics, the contrast between two or more similar elements in a language
6. phonetics phonetic contrast between sounds: in phonetics, the contrast between two sounds that are articulated in a similar place in the mouth, e.g. between the voiced consonant /v/ and the voiceless consonant /f/
7. chess advantage near end of chess game: a situation toward the end of a game of chess in which the two kings are in such a position that the opponent must make a king move and is therefore at a disadvantage
8. logic relations between logical propositions: the way in which logical propositions sharing the same subject and predicate but differing in quantity or quality relate to each other
9. astronomy Moon or planet position: the position of the Moon or one of the outer planets when it is on the opposite side of the Earth as seen from the Sun
10. astronomy relative position of two astronomical objects: the position of two astronomical objects when they are diametrically opposite on the celestial sphere
11. astrologically opposing planetary position: in astrology, a situation when two planets are 180º from each other, believed to cause friction or symbolize confrontation

Fear & Admire

Write about someone you both fear and admire.

GOD

FEAR
These words were not spoken by Jonathan Edwards. They were not spoken by Cotton Mather. They were not spoken by Calvin, or Augustine, or by Paul. But these words were spoken by Jesus.
And when put together with the many other words like them in the Gospels, they demonstrate the utter falsity of the picture of Jesus which is being constructed in recent years. The other day, in one of the most popular religious books of the day, The Reconstruction of Religion, by Ellwood, I came upon the amazing assertion that Jesus concerned Himself but little with the thought of a life after death. In the presence of such assertions any student of history may well stand aghast. It maybe that we do not make much of the doctrine of a future life, but the question whether Jesus did so is not a matter of taste but an historical question which can be answered only on the basis of an examination of the sources of historical information, which we call the Gospels. And if you want to answer the question, I recommend that you do what I have done, and simply go through a Gospel harmony, noting the passages where Jesus speaks of blessedness and woe in the future life. You may be surprised at the result; certainly you will be surprised if you have been affected in the slightest degree by the misrepresentation of Jesus which suffuses the religious literature of our time. You will discover that the thought not only of heaven but also the thought of hell runs all through the teaching of Jesus. It appears in all four of the Gospels; it appears in the sources, supposed to underlie the Gospels, which have been reconstructed, rightly or wrongly, by modem criticism. It is not an element which can be removed by any critical process, but simply suffuses the whole of Jesus’ teaching and Jesus’ life.

ADMIRE
For his works of Providence

God's works of providence are the acts of his most holy, wise, and powerful government of his creatures, and of their actions. Of the work of God's providence Christ says, 'My Father worketh hitherto and I work.' John v 17. God has rested from the works of creation, he does not create any new species of things. 'He rested from all his works;' Gen ii 2; and therefore it must needs be meant of his works of providence: 'My Father worketh and I work.' 'His kingdom ruleth over all;' Psa ciii 19; i.e., his providential kingdom. We all know this, but what can we do better to enrich our children? Helping children learn more about themselves and their environment can be a key stepped in preventing school and youth violence. Parents want children to be safe, and children want to feel and be safe.
These are the reasons why parent s and caregivers should be role models to their children:
Nurture
Show love and concern
Every day, tell your child you love him/her.
Show affection daily with a hug, a kiss, and/or a touch.
Make time for special family fun activities.
Meet your child’s friends to ensure he/she has positive influences.
Emotions
Understand - don’t take a stand
Children who don’t know how to control their anger are more likely to fight. Teach children how to calm down and talk over their problems. Tips for keeping cool and solving a problem:
Keep in mind that anger is real, but it usually goes away.
To calm down, think about or do things you enjoy.
Once you have calmed down, think about the problem with a clear head.
Take steps to solve the problem.
Communication
Is a two-way street?
Children who have good communication with their parents are more likely to ask for their advice than turn to peers. When talking to your child, always remember to:
Listen to your child.
Find out what your child knows about violence and how to prevent it before you start talking.
Let your child know he/she can always talk to you about anything.
RESPECT
Find out what it means to me
Many youth fight because they feel disregarded and, as a result, feel angry, humiliated, or embarrassed. To stay violence-free, respect means:
Give respect so you may get respect.
Stand up for yourself without putting yourself in danger.
Discuss ways to solve problems without fighting.
Respect is not gained by physical force or intimidation, but by the quality of your character.
Fighting doesn’t solve a problem or get you respect.
Education
Everyone benefits
Take interest in your child’s education and development:
Read to your child and encourage your child to read.
Meet with your child’s teachers often and learn about your child’s progress.
Review homework and tests.
Set short- and long-term educational goals together and help your children reach their goals.
Encourage your child to participate in an after-school program.
Give your child household responsibilities/chores.
Children who aren’t interested in school, who have friends who use alcohol/drugs, and who are not bound by rules is more likely to use alcohol/drugs.
Let your child know you disapprove of drug use, including alcohol, and WHY.
Peaceful solutions ...another way
How to get your way without fighting:
Talk clearly and calmly. State the problem and your desire to solve it without fighting.
Humor—Make fun of the problem.
Compromise—Both give up something and get something.
Avoid/ignore—Sometimes it’s not worth the bother.
Remember that it takes more guts and self-respect to walk away from a fight than to fight.
Bullying... NO WAY
Prevent your child from becoming a VICTIM:
Instill self-confidence in your child.
Help your child establish good social skills.
Teach your child to speak out for him or herself.
Teach your child to seek, if harassed, help from you and other caring adults.
Try to meet with the bully to work things out. If the problem continues, call for a meeting of all those involved.
Prevent your child from becoming a BULLY:
Present yourself as a model of nonviolent behavior.
Clearly state that violence is not acceptable.
Assist your child in finding nonviolent strategies for anger management and conflict resolution.
Seek help from mental health/school counselors to help stop bullying and aggressive behavior.
Gangs are not family
Many youth join gangs looking for affection. Gangs only look out for their own interests and forget about yours. Gangs are violent...they intimidate, hurt, and kill people. Gangs lead to self-destruction.
GUNS...Not the Solution
The presence of guns can turn conflicts into violent confrontations resulting in serious injury or death.
Guns are more likely to kill a friend or family member (unintentionally or through suicide) than an enemy.
Parents-don’t own a gun; but if you do, store it unloaded and uncooked in a locked place.
Children should be taught not to touch or play with firearms.
SEEING VIOLENCE...Through a Child’s Eyes
Children who have seen violence are more likely to become involved in violence as victims or perpetrators. You can:
Minimize your child’s exposure to violence.
Tell your child that media violence is not real - it is glamorized, misleading, and fails to depict the real pain and suffering of the victims.
Talk to your child about the violence he or she witnessed.
If you see changes in your child, after they’ve witnessed a violent act, talk to a mental health professional.
Some warning signs of emotional distress related to witnessing violence include sleeplessness, lack of appetite, lack of attention, anxiety, and frequent thoughts or flashbacks of the event.
Rules for quality time together
TEENS
Don’t insult, shout, walk out or away...SHOW RESPECT.
PARENTS
Don’t boss, preach, judge, or criticize...SHOW RESPECT.
FOR BOTH
Spend more than 15 minutes each day together listening and talking.
Don’t have outside interruptions.
Don’t blame or try to defend anyone.
DO MAKE one-on-one time SPECIAL.
Be a role model
Warm family relationships protect children FROM violence and many other risky behaviors.
Be aware that everything you do, your children see and do.
Talk to them and, most important, listen to them.
Spend valuable time with them that includes fun activities.
Find out who their friends are and if they are a positive influence.
Find out where they hang out and make sure it’s safe.
Let them know you disapprove of fighting.
Keep your children "drug and violence-free."

Rebellious

An act of rebellion that I feel was need in my life was when I stayed in a hotel alone. An educated person is someone that tries to exceed past the expected level of the common person. Some one who knows that they are not always right but will always voice there opinion even if there are facts to prove that they maybe incorrect. An educated person is someone knows the sun does not set and rise on there time. An educated person is someone that is always there to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate then themselves. An educated person can be a student because the are striving to go above and beyond the average person like myself. I maybe a student and right now I am not doing to hot but I am still striving to reach my goals and dreams that I had planned for my life. An educated person can be a teacher because they have already received the teaching that they needed to get we they are in life but yet they still know that they can always go higher.

"Sausage and Beer"

Did thinking about your own experience in life help your interest in the story?
No, because the story did not catch my attention.

Have you ever felt what the boy in the story felt, whether it is having a strange family member or perhaps having a parent take you somewhere for a learning experience?
Yes, Because family feels as if I don't know anything about the real world.

How does the author, Minot, make his character interesting to the reader?
He tries to use situations that most young people go through in everyday life.

That's So Raven

My character is Raven Simone she is the main character in here television show "Thats So Raven.' I liked this poem because it relates to me. There is a line the poem that says "Then be not coy, but use your time, And while ye may, go marry;" I go to church and all the time in the Sunday morning services and even at bible study on Wednesday nights the pastors tells the young people to wait until marriage to give up your special gift. Because that "thing" isn't going anywhere. Because you can go and just give it up to just anyone and they think anything of it but you would. Also being a virgin is sacred its not meant for just anybody to have your body that is gift that should be given to your husband or wife on your very "special" wedding night.

When You Are Old

I read the poem called "When you are old" by: W. B. Yeats. I liked this poem because it relates to my grandmother. She might not be "old and gray" but she has wisdom. My grandmother is a minister at my church and she has used her love of God to attract others to the church. There is a line the poem that says "How many loved your moments of glad grace,And loved your beauty with love false or true" honestly there are countless numbers of people who love her she just has a way to connect with people of all ages. There is also a line in the poem that says" And bending down beside the glowing bars" my grandmother and believe in the rapture which is the coming of jesus christ and to me the glowing bars are the heavenly gates that all people will eventually get to before they are judged by the Lord that will determiune if they will be in heaven or hell.

Credo

I read the poem entitled "Credo" written by: Matthew Rohrer. I like this poem because it relates to my current relationship. I have just recently rekindled an old relationship that I had my sophmore year in high school. The reason we broke up was because he was going to college and he didn't want me to be attached to him. But the times that we had were great. There is a line in the poem that reads "I believe the woman sleeping beside me doesn't care about what's going on outside".This part of the poem relates to us because we never cared what people thought about us or the decisions that we made. We just wanted to be together and we wanted to wake up every morning and see each others smiling face in the morning sun. There is also another line in the poem that reads "and her body is warm with trust which is a great beginning." When we would hug our bodys were very warm against have other. But we haven't talked for about a year and just Saturday I saw him at his old job and he told how much he missed what we had and how he regreted letting me go and we have start a new beginning.

Introduction

Bonjour,

My name is Britny "Diva".
